Just before Lorna and Eleanor arrived, myself Andrew Jones and family were at the field but had decided to pack up as it had started to rain. Both Ron and I with my nine year old cousin stood gazing upwards from the field at Hazelbury with the occasional glimpse of a star or passing satellite. By 11pm we decided it was time to head back home - but at least we made the effort. Before heading off home, I dropped my cousin back off to her parents just outside of Crewkerne and the skies cleared. Out came the sun loungers and we counted more than 40 meteors in about an hour! Not only that, we had a most wonderful display of lightening! I eventually tucked myself into bed just before 2am. I didn't see a single one from home at around 11 on Friday. Some of us did go to the field tonight (Saturday) but there were only small breaks in the cloud and all we spotted was a satellite or two.
